About the Program

Mathematics provides an excellent background for many careers by developing your problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and abstract thinking. This program focuses on foundational mathematical concepts for practical applications in diverse fields, such as cryptography, economics, machine learning, financial engineering, and more, As a Mathematics student, you may also have the opportunity to engage in mathematics research projects with professors.

You can choose between an Honours or Specialized Honours in either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics. An Honours Minor is also possible. In the BA program, you will take electives in areas like economics, business, psychology, or philosophy and in the BSc program, you will take electives in areas like physics, astronomy, biology, or chemistry. At York Science, you can switch between the majority of mathematics and statistics programs in the first year and still complete your degree on time.
