About the Program
Explore the world of film and media through history, theory and criticism! You’ll examine film, television, gaming, social media and moving-image media through cultural, technological, industrial and aesthetic perspectives, gaining a broad understanding of global cinema and today’s fast-changing media landscape.
Through research, screenings and hands-on placements, you’ll connect classroom learning with industry experience.
Courses in producing, marketing, media curation, videographic criticism and journalism help you build practical skills, while master classes and networking opportunities connect you with directors, producers, showrunners, screenwriters and other professionals

Applied Learning Opportunities
Through hands-on placements at leading organizations such as TIFF, the National Film Board of Canada and POV Magazine, you’ll apply your learning in areas such as festival programming, media producing, marketing and industry research. You’ll build professional connections across Toronto’s film and cultural sectors while gaining insight into how films are programmed, promoted and brought to audiences. By graduation, you’ll have practical experience and career-ready skills for work in festivals, production, criticism and creative media organizations.
